How To Use
Choose a suitable needle size according to different treatment areas and skin concern.
Wear disposable nitrile or latex gloves to reduce risk of infection and ensure gloves are changed if touching non sterile surfaces during your session.
Cleanse the skin/face/scalp thoroughly and pat dry.
Apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum before use to provide hydration and more importantly, allow for smooth movement of the dermapen across the area being treated.
If you are not using the Pure Derma Hyaluronic Acid Serum, please ensure that the products you use are sterile, non-comedogenic, and free of fragrances, oils, or irritants to prevent adverse reactions.
Press and hold power button for 3 seconds to start or shut down the device. The speed changes once every time the power button is pressed.
Adjust the depth of the needle by turning the scale adjustment ring which should be adjusted after starting the pen. The scale number aligning with the scale point shows the current needle depth.
Gradually adjust speed to find the most comfortable setting for your skin type and concern.
The dermapen should be used multi directionally, gliding the pen vertically, horizontally and diagonally in both directions working in small areas and using light pressure.
Lightly stretch the skin with fingers to create a flat surface where possible for the dermapen. Avoid going over the same area more than 2-3 times to reduce the chance of overworking the skin.
Be gentle when using the Dermapen as applying too much pressure may lead to unnecessary skin trauma. Let the device glide smoothly over the treatment area, using Pure Derma Hyaluronic Acid Serum or Pure Derma Face Oil for effortless application.
Take extra care around the eye area: Instead of gliding the dermapen, use a stamping or light tapping motion to avoid overstretching or irritating the skin. Apply the shortest needle length of 0.25mm around the orbital bone (bony area of the eye), but avoid getting too close to the eyelid or under eye area.
Apply more serum as and when required to allow the pen to glide and prevent drag.
If you feel that you have any unanswered questions after reading our 'How To Use' guide and manual then feel free to message us and we will be happy help you with any specific queries you might have.

Which Speed Setting Should I Choose
The Dr. Pen M7S has 6 adjustable speed settings operating at 16,000 RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) at its highest.
Speed settings control how fast the needles move up and down, affecting penetration and treatment intensity.
Higher speeds create more controlled micro injuries to improve collagen stimulation without excessive trauma.
Lower speeds allow more precision in delicate areas where skin is thinner and more sensitive.
Low Speed (1-3)
Sensitive areas such as eye area, neck and lips or for beginners.
Medium Speed (4-5)
General facial treatments.
High Speed (6)
Thicker skin areas where deeper penetration is required such as forehead, jawline or scalp.
What skin concerns can the Dr. Pen dermapen treat
A variety of skin concerns can be treated by microneedling:
Acne Scarring -The micro injuries caused by the dermapen stimulate collagen production to help fill in indented acne scars over time.
Fine Lines & Wrinkles - Increased collagen helps plump and smooth out fine lines & wrinkles especially around the mouth and eyes.
Hair Loss - Helps stimulate dormant hair follicles and improve blood circulation to the scalp, supporting natural hair regrowth.
Enlarged Pores - Collagen production can help tighten and minimise the appearance of enlarged pores.
Stretch Marks - Microneedling can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks by promoting collagen regeneration in the affected areas.
Uneven Skin Tone - Treatment with Dr. Pen M7S can improve hyperpigmentation issues such as age spots, melasma by triggering cell turnover.
Skin Tightening - Increased collagen and elastin production leads to firmer and more toned skin overall.
What skin types are suitable for the Dr.Pen Dermapen
Most skin types are suitable for microneedling including sensitive skin. However, it is best suited to the following:
Normal Skin - Helps boost collagen production and address the early signs of ageing.
Acne Prone Skin - Reduces scarring and improves overall skin texture.
Dry Skin - Improves dryness by increasing hydration levels and promoting a healthier skin barrier.
Oily Skin - Helps regulate oil production and minimise pore size in oily skin types.
Combination Skin - Targets specific areas such as the T-zone while being gentle on drier areas.
There are different cartridges, which one should I choose?
We supply 5 different disposable cartridge sizes to suit various skin concerns.
The Dr. Pen M7S is also compatible with M8 needle cartridges, so if we are sold out of your desired needle/pin size, feel free to order M8 needle cartridges online from a reputable supplier if you can't source M7S microneedling cartridges.
The smaller number of pins in a cartridge allow for precise treatment and deeper penetration. With more needles, the skin experiences less trauma per needle, making it suitable for mild to moderate treatments with quicker recovery.
Less pins equates to more precision... More pins equates to more coverage and faster recovery.
Nano-R (Round Head):
Great option for boosting skin health and enhancing serums with zero downtime.
Safe for frequent use, nano needles do not create micro injuries to the skin so can be used 2–3 times per week making it ideal for ongoing maintenance rather than collagen induction.
11 needles/pins:
Best for small areas like under the eyes, around the lips, and localised scars where precision is needed.
16 needles/pins:
Best for fine lines, wrinkles and overall skin texture improvement by promoting collagen production. The 16 pin cartridge is the most popular for facial rejuvenation.
24 needles/pins:
Works well on the face, neck, decolletage and even areas such as the hands or stretch marks on the body.
The 24 pin offers a balance between precision and coverage. A great middle ground option offering both depth and efficiency for those looking to treat textural concerns and skin tightening.
36 needles/pins:
Works well for treating larger areas like the full face, neck, and décolletage due to the greater number of needles, allowing for faster treatments with even coverage.
A popular choice for hair growth providing the perfect balance between coverage, penetration, and skin safety.
What is Microneedling
Microneedling creates controlled micro injuries by causing trauma to the skin, therefore stimulating the body’s natural healing process which increases collagen and elastin production.
The main benefits include:
Improves Skin Texture and Tone
Reduces roughness and unevenness.
Enhances overall skin brightness and clarity.
Boosts Collagen and Elastin Production
Stimulates natural collagen synthesis, improving skin elasticity and firmness.
Reduces signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles.
Minimises Acne Scars and Other Scarring
Helps smooth acne scars, surgical scars, and other irregularities by breaking down scar tissue and promoting skin regeneration.
Reduces Hyperpigmentation and Sun Damage
Evens out skin tone by reducing melanin build up, including dark spots and melasma.
Shrinks Enlarged Pores
Tightens and refines pore size by boosting skin elasticity.
Enhances Product Absorption
Increases skin permeability, allowing serums and active ingredients to penetrate more deeply and work more effectively.
Treats Stretch Marks
Improves the appearance of stretch marks by stimulating tissue remodelling.
Non Invasive with Minimal Downtime
Provides professional results with minimal recovery time compared to laser or surgical treatments.
Customisable For Various Skin Concerns
Needle depth and speed can be adjusted to target specific issues like fine lines or deeper scars.
By incorporating the Dr. Pen microneedling treatment into a routine (every 4-6 weeks), users can see noticeable improvements in their skin’s overall health and appearance. However, it's essential to follow proper protocols and post-care to maximize results and prevent complications.
What is Nanoneedling
Unlike Microneedling, nanoneedling does not puncture the skin so there’s no redness or downtime.
Perfect for delicate areas that might be too sensitive for standard microneedling, such as under the eyes and lips, to plump and rejuvenate. Nano needles also encourage deeper absorption of your favourite serums and skin creams.
Safe for frequent use, nano needles do not create micro injuries to the skin so can be used 2–3 times per week. making it ideal for ongoing maintenance rather than collagen induction.
Nano needles do not reach the dermis, so will not stimulate significant collagen production or improve deep scars and wrinkles.
Microneedling V Nanoneedling
Both work differently based on needle depth, skin penetration and results.
Nano needles do not penetrate the dermis. Instead, they create microscopic channels that allow serums to absorb deeper.
Downtime: None.
Treatment Frequency: 2–3 times per week (safe for frequent use).
Microneedling creates micro injuries in the skin, triggering the body's natural healing response.
Downtime: 1-3 days (redness, possible peeling).
Treatment Frequency: Every 4–6 weeks (depending on skin type).
Which One Should You Choose?
Microneedling - For anti ageing, acne scars, and deeper skin concerns.
Nanoneedling - For glowing skin, hydration, and enhancing skincare absorption.
Which Microneedling Cartridge is Best for Hair Growth
For hair growth, the best Dr. Pen cartridge is the 36-pin cartridge. This cartridge creates microscopic channels in the scalp to stimulate collagen production and increase absorption of hair growth serums.
The 36 pins allow for more surface coverage and penetration that smaller cartridges. However, it's important to follow usage instructions carefully as overuse can lead to scalp irritation.
How Deep Should I Go?
How Often Should Cartridges be Replaced?
Cartridges should be replaced after each use to maintain sterility and prevent cross contamination.
Safety Precautions
Avoid treating active acne, eczema, rosacea or open wounds as this can worsen inflammation.
Sanitise the device and hands thoroughly before & after use to reduce the risk of cross contamination and preferably wear gloves.
Do not use cartridges if the sealed packaging has been opened or damaged.
Sterilise cartridges with isoproplyl alcohol before each use and handle with care.
Do not share cartridges with others to prevent spread of bloodborne diseases.
Avoid pushing too hard on the skin as this can cause excessive trauma. Allow the dermapen to glide gently over the treatment area with the help of the Pure Derma Hyaluronic Acid Serum or Pure Derma Face Oil.
Allow skin to fully heal between treatments, typically 4-6 weeks. Overuse can cause excessive dryness, peeling and irritation.
When will I see results
IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT
Skin may appear red and feel slightly sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn.
1–3 DAYS
Redness subsides, and skin starts to feel smoother.
1 WEEK
A subtle glow appears as skin begins to heal.
4–6 WEEKS
More noticeable improvements in texture, fine lines, and pigmentation as collagen rebuilds.
3–6 MONTHS
Best results seen with multiple sessions as collagen production continues.
FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS
Be consistent with you microneedling sessions (every 4–6 weeks for facial microneedling) and use hydrating, healing serums like hyaluronic acid and peptides post treatment.
Remember to record the date of your microneedling session to ensure proper spacing and prevent overuse.
