What's New in the M8 Max
Built In Session Timer: Choose a 15, 20 or 25 minute session and follow the countdown on the display. No phone timer, no clock watching.
Smart Auto Pause Stand: Place the pen in its induction stand and the timer pauses. Pick it up and your session carries on from where you left off.
Intelligent Chip Cartridge Recognition: The M8 MAX reads the chip in each compatible cartridge. A green icon on screen confirms it is recognised, red means it is not.

M8S or M8 MAX?
Both pens share the same trusted M8 platform. The difference is guidance. The M8S gives you speed and depth control. The M8 Max adds a session timer, auto pause stand, cartridge recognition and a larger display, so each session is easier to repeat the same way every time. If you are new to microneedling, or you want more structure to your routine, the M8 Max is the one to choose.
Three Timer Modes
15 Minutes, Adapt: A shorter session for first time users or anyone easing into a routine.
20 Minutes, Standard: A balanced session for a regular full face routine.
25 Minutes, Extended: A longer session for focused work on specific areas, such as the look of uneven texture or post acne marks.
PLEASE NOTE: The three modes set the session time only. Needle depth and speed are always set separately by you.
Which Cartridge Should I Choose?
The M8 MAX uses Dr. Pen M9/M8 Max chip cartridges. Fewer pins give more precision, more pins give wider coverage and spread pressure across more needles.
Nano: Surface level only, no downtime. Use between microneedling sessions to help serums absorb and refresh the look of your complexion.
18 Pin: A balance of coverage and precision. The everyday choice for full face microneedling.
36 Pin: Versatile across face and scalp. Pressure is spread across more needles, which makes it more comfortable on the scalp.
42 Pin: The widest coverage, suited to larger areas of the face and body.

Which Speed Setting Should I Choose?
Speed controls how fast the needles move. Higher speeds help the cartridge glide over larger or thicker areas without dragging. Lower speeds give more control where skin is thinner.
Low (1 to 3): Delicate areas such as around the eyes, lips and neck, or if you are a beginner.
Medium (4 to 5): General face sessions.
High (6): Thicker areas such as the forehead, jawline and scalp.
NOTE: Results depend on more than depth. Correct speed, light pressure and good glide technique matter just as much.
How To Use
Read the user manual before your first session for full usage and safety guidance.
1. Prepare: Wash your hands and wear disposable nitrile gloves. Tie hair back away from the area.
2. Cleanse: Cleanse the skin or scalp thoroughly with hypochlorous acid spray and pat dry.
3. Insert the cartridge: Open a new sealed cartridge and click it firmly into place. Check for the green recognition icon on the display.
4. Set depth and speed: Turn the dial to your chosen depth, then select your speed level.
5. Set the timer: Press TIME to choose 15, 20 or 25 minutes. Rest the pen in the stand at any point to pause.
6. Apply serum: Apply your chosen glide serum to each small section before you start to ensure the pen glides without dragging. Please ensure that the glide used is non-comedogenic and free of fragrance, oils and irritants.
7. Work in sections: Use light pressure and glide vertically, horizontally and diagonally in both directions. Lightly stretch the skin flat where you can. Do not go over the same area more than 2 to 3 times.
8. Eye area: Use a light stamping motion rather than gliding, at the shortest depth of 0.25mm, along the orbital bone only. Keep away from the eyelid and under eye area.
9. Finish: Switch off, remove the cartridge and dispose of it safely. Never reuse a cartridge.
RECOMMENDED USE:
Microneedling: once every 4 to 6 weeks, giving skin time to recover between sessions.
Nanoneedling: once or twice a week, including between microneedling sessions.
Before and After Care
Before Your Session:
Pause actives: Stop retinol, AHAs, BHAs and scrubs 48 hours before.
Skip broken skin: Do not needle over active breakouts, wounds, irritation or infection.
Limit sun exposure: Avoid strong sun exposure for at least 24 hours beforehand.
After Your Session:
Hydrate: Apply a gentle hydrating serum such as hyaluronic acid.
Skip actives: Avoid retinol, vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs for at least 48 hours.
Use SPF: Apply broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day.
Keep it clean: Avoid make up for 24 hours.
Avoid heat: No saunas, steam rooms or intense workouts for 24 to 48 hours.
What to expect: Mild redness and sensitivity for 1 to 3 days. Light flaking or dryness is normal.
When Will I See Results?
Straight after: Skin may look pink and feel warm, similar to mild sunburn.
1 to 3 days: Redness settles. Light flaking is normal.
4 to 6 weeks: Skin looks smoother and more even.
3 to 6 months: The most visible change comes from consistent sessions over several months.
Note the date of each session so you keep the right gap between them.

Which cartridges fit the Dr. Pen M8 MAX?
The M8 MAX uses Dr. Pen M9/M8 MAX chip cartridges in Nano, 18, 36 and 42 pin. M8 and M8S cartridges do not fit.
What is the difference between the M8S and the M8 MAX?

What depth range does the M8 MAX have?
Needle depth adjusts from 0 to 2.5mm on a clearly marked manual dial. Start shallow and only increase depth once you know how your skin responds.
How fast is the Dr. Pen M8 MAX?
It has 6 speed levels running from 7,000 to 12,000 RPM. Use the lower levels on delicate areas and the higher levels on thicker skin and the scalp.
Does the timer change the needle depth or speed?
No. The timer modes set session length only. You choose depth on the dial and speed with the speed button.
What does a red cartridge icon mean?
The pen has not recognised the cartridge. Check it is a genuine M9/M8 MAX chip cartridge and is clicked fully into place.
Is the M8 MAX suitable for beginners?
Yes. The timer and display make it easier to keep each session consistent. Start at a shallow depth and a low speed, and read the manual first.
Can I use the M8 MAX on my scalp?
Yes. The 36 pin cartridge is the usual choice for the scalp, used at a higher speed to help the cartridge glide through hair.
How often should I replace the cartridge?
After every session. Cartridges are single use and come individually sealed.
Safety Precautions
Do not use over active acne, eczema, rosacea, open wounds or irritated skin.
Clean the device and your hands before and after use, and wear gloves.
Do not use a cartridge if its sealed pack is opened or damaged.
Use light pressure. Pressing hard can cause unnecessary irritation.
Stop if irritation occurs.
Never share cartridges.
